Four Stripe Design Cover

The cover of this mattress is a gray twill fabric featuring the trademark four stripe design of the Leesa brand.

This cover is mild and gentle on the body even as it’s super breathable to allow rapid air flow. This keeps you cool all night.

Breathable Foam Top Layer

On the top layer beneath the covering is a 2″ breathable foam. This foam is native to the Leesa brand. It’s cooling effect is top-notch and it’s response is super. You can have that unique softness, coolness and bouncy feel all night with this layer in the mix.

Memory Foam Contouring Layer

The next layer features a 2″ memory foam designed for maximum contouring so you can enjoy the feeling of being hugged in a soft sheet. Beyond the hugs and contouring, this layer helps to relieve pressure from your back and shoulders.

Exclusive Support Base

Serving as the base of this mattress is a 6″ core support foam that makes the mattress durable and provides optimal support for everyone that sleeps on it.

Premium Breathable Cover

Covering the top layer of this mattress is a soft white cover bearing the iconic four stripes of the Leesa brand. It’s super cool and comfortable, thanks to it’s breathable nature.

Hole-Punch Premium Cooling Top Layer

On the first layer of this mattress is a 1.5″ hole-punched foam which is also known as a cooling foam for the coolness it offers.

Memory Foam Layer

On the second layer is a 1.5″ memory foam that provides the contouring effect of this mattress. This layer hugs the sleeper perfectly and eases pressure in areas to prone to pressure build-up.

Core Support Layer

This foam was positioned here to serve as a supporting layer for the  coils of the mattress. It’s just an inch in height.

Pocketed Coils for Reinforced Support

This layer makes all the difference. It’s a 6″ foam made of over a 1000 pocketed coils for swift response to body movements.

It also comes with perimeter edge support so you can sit comfortably at the edge of the mattress without sliding off.

Core Support Foam

It’s a hybrid foam and features a unique combination of coils which you’ll find in the details of this construction section. The materials used in making this mattress was gotten from natural sources and recycled materials.

Premium Cooling Cover

This has got to be the most luxurious cover out there. This cover is a blend of 28% recycled PES bottles, 28% polyester, 19% organic cotton, Merino wool and Rayon 12% each and 1% spandex.

The excellent combination makes this cover super breathable, bacteria-free, extremely soft and cool at all times. This beautiful cover is graced with the signature four stripe design of the Leesa brand.

 

Hole-punched Comfort Foam

On the first layer is an inch of hole-punched foam unique to the legend mattress. This layer fits into the universally accepted firmness – the medium firm. This makes it great for every kind of sleeper.

Memory Foam Layer

The second layer is an inch of memory foam engineered to ease pressure off the body in the certain critical points. This memory foam is also responsible for contouring the body.

Pocketed Micro-spring Layer

As Leesa’s most luxurious mattress, the hybrid pattern here is a rare one. First it comes with this layer of 1.5″ of pocketed micro-springs. The next will be revealed after the transition layer below.

Transition Support Foam

Beneath these first set of coils is an inch transition foam which also doubles as a support layer for the coils above it.

Pocketed Spring Layer

Now to the main hybrid. This layer features a 6″ of 15 guage individually pocketed coils for optimal support, cooling and comfort. In synergy with the micro coils above it, they work together to make this mattress a therapeutic one ( offering back and shoulders optimal support).

It also comes with perimeter edge support so you don’t fall off the edges.

Core Support Foam

At the base of this unique mattress is an inch of a core support foam. This layer provides structural integrity and durability for the mattress.

Top Cover

N/B: All mattresses from Amerisleep comes with the same cover and for the rest of this review, it will be needless dwelling on covers since there’s no difference. The cover for AS1 is same as that of AS2 to AS5, and the hybrid options equally.

The highlight of this cover on all mattresses from Amerisleep is the inclusion of Celliant which is blended with spandex and polyester.

The Celliant in the mix makes the cover cool to the touch and is also reputed to harbour therapeutic benefits for the muscle.

Comfort Layer

Surely made for comfort, this comfort layer is made up of a 2 inch Bio-pur® memory foam. This foam contours the body perfectly and allows you to sink in a little to relieve pressure points.

It’s also quite responsive since it’s just 2 inches, so you don’t get trapped while trying to get up. This layer also uses an open cell technology that makes it breathable to make the sleeper enjoy a cool sleep.

Base Layer

The core of this mattress is an 8 inch high-density polyfoam that offers all the support, resilience and durability for the few inched layers above it.

This layer is also responsible for the firmness of this mattress. On the basis of it’s sheer strenght, it was tagged the firmest mattress on the Amerisleep line.

AS2

The AS2 is also a firm mattress, but sits in the medium-firm range, making it ideal for stomach and back sleepers. Its construction is in three layers.

Cover – All covers are the same.

Top Layer

The first and top layer just beneath the cover is a 2 inch Bio-pur® memory foam that provides adequate contouring and pressure relief. It also keeps the body cool with an open cell technology. This top layer is very soft.

Middle Transition Layer

The second layer or middle layer consist of a 3 inch polyfoam. This layer is very firm and also known as the affinity layer.

Base Layer

Serving as base for the layers of this mattress is 7 inches of high-density polyfoam which is very firm and provides structural support for the mattress. There is also a zoned support system in place here which is a patented one to relieve pressure off pressure points, enhance alignment and reduce back pain.

AS3

AS3 is the most popular mattress on the Amerisleep mattress series. It sits at the middle in the firmness scale – not too soft and not too firm. So this mattress is recommended for side sleepers and those who change positions often. Its construction is in three layers.

Top Comfort Layer

3 inches of a Bio-pur® memory foam sits at the top layer for maximum coolness, softness and pressure relief.

Middle Transition Layer

2 inches of 1.65lb density  polyfoam serves as the second and transition layer. This layer transit the sleeper from the soft top layer to the medium firm base.

Base Support Layer

Serving as base and support for the entire mattress is 7 inches of high-density polyfoam which is average on firmness. It’s soft but provide the needed firmness for support.

AS4

The AS4 is on the soft side, specifically on the medium-soft range of the firmness scale making it ideal for side sleepers. It’s the second softest foam on the line. It’s construction is in 3 layers and it’s 12 inches in height.

Middle Transition Layer

An inch of breathable transition foam sits at the middle position to transit the sleeper from the soft surface to the firm support base layer using a surface modification technology. This layer also come with support zones to relief pressure from pressure points like the back, shoulders, neck and hips.

AS5

AS5 is the softest mattress on the series and often known as the plush mattress. It’s the most sophisticated mattress on the Amerisleep series with four uniquely built layers and the signature Celliant cover. It’s also the highest in height at 14 inches.

The top layer of this mattress is 3 inches of Bio-pur® memory foam providing pressure relief in contouring and coolness in breathability.

Compression Layer

2 inches of foam known as the Active Flex layer sits just beneath the comfort layer. This layer is very soft but also come with the firmness of a memory foam. This layer is exclusive to the AS5 and also contributes to pressure relief by allowing you sink in not too deep to be trapped.

Transition Layer

This layer is 2 inches of foam that is well-spaced for a hitch-free air passage and subsequent cooling. It also serves as the bridge between the soft top layer and the firm support base layer. It is also zoned to guarantee pressure relief on pressure points.

Base Support Layer

At the foot of the layers is 7 inches of high-density polyfoam providing stability and durability to the layers above it.

The Hybrids (AS2, AS3 & AS5)

The construction of the hybrids for all three are basically same save for a few additions which include:

After 100 nights and you are not satisfied with the quality or you couldn’t just adapt, whatever tangible reason you have for not accepting it will have you recieve a full refund of your money when you return your product.

All mattresses come with a limited 10-year warranty. During this warranty window, you get a replacement for any damages on your mattress or structural defect noticed. Terms and conditions apply however.

After purchase, you are given 100 nights risk-free trial and if you are still not comfortable with the mattress after that time window, you can return it and get a full refund.

All mattresses come with a limited 20-year warranty. For the first 10 years, Amerisleep will replace your mattress for any defect and that includes sagging above 0.75″. After the first 10 years, you will be receiving prorated replacements.

Conclusion

Amerisleep would have been the best in the industry if mattresses were just all about firmness levels. Amerisleep has 5 different mattresses and all come in 5 different firmness levels to suit a variety of sleeping positions. Amerisleep also featured 3 hybrids mattresses making it a total of 8.

When it comes to comfort and support, Amerisleep performed greatly with a celliant cover and a Biopur® memory foam. Both promises sleepers of a cool and comfortable sleep.

Leesa on the other hand has three brilliant mattresses which includes two hybrids and one all-foam mattress. With this combination, Leesa leads over Amerisleep in comfort and support.
